Team Sowenna, made up of Simon Armitage, Jon Anderson, Jim Anderson and David Jones are taking on the mighty Sir Ben Ainsley in the annual Isle of Wight Round the Island Race.

At the crack of dawn on Saturday 21 June, Sowenna and her crew will be at the start of a hell raising and treacherous 93km race round the Isle of Wight.

Over 1700 boats take part each year and the average finishing time is 9 hours (although Sir Ben has done it in under three).  As a fairly inexperienced team we’re hoping to avoid complete humiliation and finish the race in under 12 hours.
