Story
For reasons that many of you already know, a group of close friends and I will be taking on the challenge of cycling from Lands End to John O Groats in June 2013. We will be raising money by cycling approximately 1,000 miles starting on 2 June and, if we don’t get lost along the way, finishing on 15 June.
Charlotte, our wonderful daughter, and sister to Verity (Veritys song for Charlotte) , passed away in February 2012, just days after her 23rd birthday. It is almost impossible for us to describe how remarkable Charlotte was. She fought her illness with the most incredible bravery, dignity and humour and, always with a smile on her face. She faced up to the most traumatic of situations that life can throw at anyone, never mind someone so young. We are, and will forever be proud and in awe of the way she coped.
If there is just one word to describe Charlotte - it is “inspirational”. It is that inspiration that has encouraged us to take on this demanding ride. Our objective is to honour her strength and determination and help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) to enable them to give support to others who find themselves fighting the same fight.
The TCT is a charity that helps youngsters, aged between 13 and 24 years, who are diagnosed with cancer. Their aim is to offer young people at this sensitive and unique age, the best care and support available, whilst also allowing them to be comfortable in surroundings appropriate to their age, and most importantly, to still be teenagers. The TCT’s objective is to be able to offer this support to all youngsters throughout the UK, wherever they live. As a charitable organisation, in the current economic climate, this is a big challenge.
Our aim is to raise over £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, in memory of Charlotte. Please help us to help achieve our goal - all donations are very welcome and greatly appreciated.
