Story

Fund Raising Inca Trail 17th - 26th May in memory of Shaun McBride

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Evelyn Docherty ( a work colleague) and my self are raising funds in memory of my son Shaun McBride who died last May 2006 (4 weeks before his 16th Birthday)from a Brain Tumour.

Shaun was a bright and happy young man who had just started his exams at Bishopbriggs High School.   He hopefully planned to study aerodynamics then enrol in the RAF. One of his aims was to learn to fly.

The Inca Trail is quite a fitting challenge to raise funds for SDBTT as Shaun was a healthy athletic boy never stopping for a moment with his Evening Times paper round, golf, football, badmington, working towards his Queens Badge for Boy's Brigade.  He had just received his President's Badge.

So to do Shaun proud we attempting to get fit for the challenge so our training has started.   Goat Fell, Ben Lomond, The Meilke Bin and the Dumgoyne have all been climbed (some more than once) so far.   Running for 10ks, body pump and spinning (not easy) classes are being included to get us up to scratch.   All ideas are welcome.

Fund raising is well on its way with Evelyn's great enthusiasm.   Sponsorship, raffles, football cards, discos.   Frank, Shaun's Dad and I  organised a fund raising celidh with a fabulous Band the Skerryvores March 08 there. We held a raffle, an auction and tomobla on the evening.  So providing we receive payment for every bodies auction bids, we hope to  now  to set up  an SDBTT umberella group in memoray of Shaun.

Our costs have been covered by a fantastic benefactor so all fund raising will go to SDBTT who aim to find a cure for childhood and adult brain tumours through funding research and offer support,  hope and information to patients and their carers.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
