Story
My father, Ian, passed away on the 2nd June 2009, unfortunately only 12 days after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
For those who know very little about the disease, it has the lowest survival rates of any cancer, only 15% of people after being diagnosed reach one year, and only 3% get to 5 years. It is hard to detect and often when detected, it is too late.
Very little is known about the disease and I hope for others sake, some good can come of this and even if a small sum is raised, it will go some way to helping another family spend more time with a loved one.
Prior to this happening so quickly, I was training with some colleagues at work to climb the three peaks and do a cycle relay between the peaks to raise money for Age Concern. My dad was hugely in support of me doing this and after talking to my colleagues, I have decided to go it alone on the fundraising stakes with their whole hearted blessing.
The story is...
Thursday 18th July - we arrive at and climb Snowdon in the evening. The biking then commences through the night...
Friday 19th July - the biking continues through the early morning, into the afternoon. We arrive at Scarfell Pike in the evening and climb it. Once the climb is done with, the biking starts again....
Saturday 20th July - After immense biking through the night to get us into Scotland, we hope to arrive at the Ben in the afternoon. We climb Ben Nevis, thank god and hope no-one has another stupid idea like this again. Drinking commences!
I hope you will support me in doing this and for your information, every penny you give (up to a maximum of £250) is matched by my employers - Coventry Building Society.
Thank you in advance if you are sparing a few pounds or pence to help towards this good cause.
