Story
Cycle Palestine 2016
24th September - 2nd October 2016.
I will be cycling from Jenin in the North of Palestine's West Bank to Hebron in the South passing through Jericho, Bethlehem and ultimately reaching Jerusalem. The ride is not only a physical challenge, but a chance to meet the local people, experience the rich culture and build friendships with the people of the area. I haven't been on a bike in 20 years and at this moment I don't own one, but that problem will be put right very soon.
I am well and truly getting out of my comfort zone. I am half Palestinian and this will be the first time I will have visited Palestine the birthplace of my Mum. I have have always wanted to experience and see up close this historic and enigmatic country which has suffered many hardships over recent years. I have taken the plunge to participate in this 230km bike ride across the West Bank to raise money and awareness for Medical Aid for Palestinians, a remarkable charity which I have supported over the last 25 years. Last years ride raised over £166,000 for MAP’s healthcare projects in the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon. We will be visiting one of these on the journey.
