Hope for Amal in Ramadan

Hope for Amal in Ramadan · 12 June 2018
We met 12 year old Amal in her run down home in Jordan this week. She has 3 older brothers and a younger 8 year old sister called Reemas.
Amal and her family are from Homs. They had a good life with a nice home, good education and a father in the building trade.
In 2012 their father was forced to do an interview at gunpoint in support of one of the factions of the conflict. This interview was then posted onto social media, and was seen by an opposing faction. The father was kidnapped, tortured and left paralysed.
One night bombs were reigning down in their neighbourhood, and the family managed to quickly move their disabled father away from a wall in their home, seconds later a rocket hit and the wall of the home collapsed.
In fear for their lives the family fled to Jordan, it was a difficult journey as the children were very young and the father was paralysed. They spent a few weeks in the Zaatari camp and were given permission to move due to the severity of their fathers condition.
Unfortunately 7 months ago Amal's father passed away leaving behind a widow and 5 orphans. Amal's father had medical needs due to his paralysis, and because of this the family got into debt to pay medical and household bills. Amal's mother was very embarrassed to talk about these debts.
When she was asked about her life and what had happened over the last 6 years, she replied
"this is what Allah has written for us"
Amal's family have been through unimaginable hardship and suffering. The trauma was clearly visible in the eyes of Amal and her younger sister Reemas. They had tears in their eyes when we asked about their father, and clearly missed him.
We are hoping to raise funds to support this family over the next 2 years. We would like to move them into more suitable accommodation and cover their rent. We are also hoping to clear the family's debt which is currently £800. We want to give Amal and her family hope for a better future.
