Story
Joe Henderson, Michael Wright, Jonathan Willett, Rob Worrell & Chris Halmshaw have signed up to complete a Coast to Coast charity bike ride. They will be helping to raise the funds for a HIBL member of staff that was in a serious car accident, resulting in her being paralysed from the chest down.
The ride will commence on Monday 5th June and as novice riders they will have a gruelling 160 miles to complete in 3 days, as they travel from Whitehaven to Sunderland.
At the age of 21, Emily Storer was in a serious car accident which left her paralysed from the chest down. Emily spent 5 months in Pinderfields hospital, Wakefield, learning the basics of living life as a full time wheelchair user.
In 2016, she was given the opportunity to have a test session on a device known as “a ReWalk exoskeleton” which is a robotic device that allows her to stand and walk again despite having no sensation or feeling in her legs.
The device costs £65,000, to which Emily hopes to find the support of donations to help her on her journey.
Joe Henderson commented, "This device, without a doubt will change Emily’s life. I think everyone will agree that her story highlights that your life can change overnight but through all of the adversity, Emily has had a positive attitude. As a company and a community we should support her in being able to have the chance to walk again, I encourage friends, family, colleagues and local communities to support this campaign in some way."
