Story
4 October 2017 ~ Today is World Animal Day. We would be most grateful if you would make a donation towards our work, rescue and rehoming older dogs in the UK. Our vet bills for August 2017 were over £15,000 - for that one month! It's a lot of money to find for a small, volunteer-run charity.

It's now 31 October 2015 and while there is nothing frightening about the wonderful older dogs in our care, our vet bills are scary! They reach thousands and thousands of pounds each month, so we do truly appreciate and need your continued support to help us in our volunteer work, rescuing and rehoming older dogs. Thank you :-)

We're now well into August and the vet bills keep coming in, so please donate if you can, whatever you can. Thank you :-)
It's July now, but our vet bills continue to come in, so I have increased our fundraising goal. Please give whatever you can to help us take care of our older dogs :-) Thanks very much to those who have already donated :-)
Hello, I've just found out that our treasurer has already paid out £6,000 in May for vet bills and we're only on the 12th of the month! We have dogs on our waiting list to come into our care too. Unfortunately we having to put a bit of a 'stop' on dog intake until we can boost our funds to ensure we are accepting additional dogs in a responsible manner, so if you can donate, it really will make a difference to an older dog's future.
Setting the target for this page to £6,000 seemed rather ambitious, so I have set it to £1,000, in the hope of making a dent in the outgoings ... but it would make us very, very happy to exceed the target! I am hoping as you've found your way to this new fundraising page, that you will stop to make a donation and then tell your friends, family, colleagues etc. about us in the hope they might help too :-)
People often say - and I know I've said it myself - 'Sorry it's not more', but we are truly grateful for every donation made, so please don't be put off donating because you can't spare very much. If all of our supporters donated 'Sorry it's not more' amounts, we might find our way to the grand total :-)
We have lots of older dogs in our care at the moment. Some temporarily while they are assessed and receive any necessary veterinary treatment prior to being placed for adoption. Some who are sponsor dogs in permanent foster homes, where Oldies Club covers the vet bills for the rest of the dogs' lives. It's expensive and we rely on your support, in all its forms, to continue with our valuable work in rescuing and rehoming older dogs. Dogs come into our care from all sorts of situations. Some never really having known love or care and discovering the joys of a good home very late in life. Others find their way to us when their person sadly passes away, or because a devastating change of circumstance means their family considers rescue the best option for their beloved dog(s).
From all the dogs and the human team at this small, volunteer-run charity, we thank you, very much indeed :-)
