Story
People every day, all over the world, are living in poverty. During my recent trip to India I saw firsthand how people live with no, or very little money in their every day lives. It is not something unique to foreign countries either, here in the UK people are going to bed hungry.
The people in the community I was living in in India would invite our team to their homes for dinner and serve us their best food. Towards the end of our stay they all clubbed together and donated 50 rupees each (about 40p, a third of their daily wage) so that we could have chicken. They were so generous to us, giving us everything they had.
This week I am challenging myself to live below the line, spending a maximum of £1 per day on all the food and drink that I consume. I won't be accepting freebies and any food I already have in the cupboards will be costed and accounted for in my daily budget.
I don't anticipate this will be an easy challenge, but that is why I am doing it.
