Story
Hello everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
As some of you may know, when I was a few weeks old I was diagnosed with an alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. This is a condition in which the body does not make enough protein to protect the lungs and the liver from damage.
I have been very lucky and I am living a full and healthy life. However, for some babies this can be fatal, for me it nearly was (I was resuscitated twice) others can be left with lifelong disabilities.
To support those less fortunate than me, I am running the Paris Marathon in aid of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation - a very worthy cause, helping families deal with the difficulties faced by children with liver disease.
I am hoping to run the Paris Marathon in under 4h30. So far so good - I ran 18 miles this weekend and I am doing 20 miles this Sunday - 12 of which mummy kept me company!
This has been a completely new experience - Deep Heat has become my new best friend.
Thank you for any donations that you are able to make - especially fellow students!
Hope to see you all soon,
Lots of love
Harriet
As you read this, two more families will have received the devastating news that their child has a potentially life-threatening liver disease. Their lives have been shattered and will never be the same again. Children's Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) immediately picks up the pieces giving thousands of families hope for the future.
CLDF is the country's lead charity supporting medical research into all childhood liver disease, which strikes more families than childhood leukaemia. It also acts as an information hub for healthcare professionals and the general public and provides a tailored support service for young people with liver disease and their families.
A childhood liver disease can strike any child at any age through no fault of their own or their parents. By supporting me, you can make a difference to these children's lives. Thank you.
