In October 2010 I set off to Cambodia for 14 months to work in education. I worked in primary schools in Banteay Meanchey province, North West Cambodia, to try to get communities involved in their children's education. In doing so I hope I played a small part in helping to improve enrolment levels, and educational standards in the country.

I returned from Cambodia in December 2011, and in order to help VSO continue their work in countries across the world, I am fundraising for them when I can. 

This year I will be taking part in the 'Live Below The Line Challenge' from April 28 to May 2, when I will live on just £1 per day for five days -  a reality for the 1.4 billion people who live in extreme poverty who survive on this amount everyday for everything.

This will mean giving up Diet Coke for FIVE WHOLE DAYS!

VSO works by sending volunteers with skills to developing countries instead of money, and the purpose of this is to raise some money to enable VSO to continue to send volunteers in the future. They work across a range of areas, including; health, education, disability, HIV/AIDS, increasing participation in democracy, and working with Trade Unions in developing countries to help workers achieve better pay and conditions.
