Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've abandoned my faithful Gilette Venus razor for the whole of August to support the "Armpits for August" campaign supporting Verity, the only UK registered charity for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). If it sounds odd, think Movember for girls!

I was diagnosed with PCOS 11 years ago when I was 21, and although it's not a life-threatening condition, it does have many repercussions on my health and happiness and can have serious long-term health risks such as heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. It also makes me (and most women with PCOS) significantly hairier than "normal" women - something which is humiliating, confidence-destroying and one of the more frustrating symptoms of this pain-in-the-bum of a condition.

I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible by letting my underarms go native for the duration of August -  I will post update pics each week if it's not too horrifying to contemplate! About the charity

Verity is a self help group set up in 1997 to help women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The charity is completely self funded and is the only national charity for women with PCOS. PCOS affects millions of women in the UK and worldwide (approximately 5-10 per cent) .
