Hair Today Gone Tomorrow hair appeal on Thursday 20th May, I am getting my head shaved to raise the profile of Matter of Trust and raise money in aid of WWF.
All hair from the salon and my head shave will be used to help fight the oil slick near the . The hair collected at Johnsons hairdressers and barbers, Cathays, will be sent to Matter of Trust a charity which links up recycled goods with causes that need them. The Trust is coordinating the collection of hair, fur and tights which are needed to make booms and mats to mop up the oily mess spewing out of the sunken Deepwater Horizon oil platform which is lying on the seabed of the . Hair and fur will typically soak up around four to six times their weight in oil. This oil spill is a shocking example of how a corporation is damaging the earth and our natural environment. Stop Climate Chaos, there is no Planet B. Not only will the hair be put to good any donations will help the WWF with their work to protect endangered wildlife and environments. I am encouraging students and residents to appeal to their hair salon to participate in sending hair to Matter of Trust and also shave their heads have their hair cut to help. I have a template letter if you want to help and petition your hairdressers. Johnsons hairdressers will be offering the opportunity for anyone interested in actively joining the campaign by having their head shaved in support on Thursday the 27th May. I will also be writing to hair salons across with a hair appeal.
