Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
We are a bunch of serving Officers and Soldiers currently serving in Cyprus with the United Nations on Operation TOSCA. We are all very enthusiastic road cyclists (read improving!) and we came up with the idea of cycling from Paphos in Southern Cyprus up over the Troodos Mountains (a climb of 5,500 feet) then onto Nicosia and out to the Karpas or Pan Handle of Northern Cyprus finishing at Cape Apostolos Andreas. A total distance of 350 Km. We started from Paphos Harbour on 12 Jun 2009 and we finish at Cape Apostolos Andreas 14 June 2009. Currently our Regiment is serving with one Squadron deployed in Afghanistan, a Troop in Iraq and the remainder of us serving guiltily in Cyprus. Our aim is to raise £5,500 for the fantastic organisation H4H. Please dig deep and support our wounded friends and colleagues and forward this appeal onto your friends and colleagues. Your help in this matter is very much appreciated."What is H4H all about? It’s about the blokes. It’s about Derri, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It is about Ben, its about Steven and Andy and Mark, its about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes." (Bryn Parry, Appeal Chairman)
The money we raise will be used in support of the treatment that soldiers require after suffering modern war or accidental injuries.
