Story
Each year a team of riders called The Gravity Fundraisers from Hinckley take part in a Charity cycle ride which over the years has raised in excess of £200,000.
This year The Gravity Fundraisers aim to raise enough funds to send a minimum of twenty physically disabled people from the West Leicestershire area on a four day, adventure of a life time. They will be taken on board one of the Jubilee Sailing Trust tall ships for a four day sail somewhere around the British coast. They will not only experience what a tall ship is all about but be able to man the ship, friggin in the rigging, climbing the main sail etc. All of this can happen because each of the JST boats have been specially adapted to accommodate physically disabled people as well as able bodied people.
The JST is a registered charity that owns and operates Lord Nelson and Tenacious, the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals Please have a look at their website www.jst.org.uk
To launch this year’s challenge which is a sponsored cycle ride in France from the legendary Mount Ventoux, finishing 3 days later at the finish of the 14th Etape of this years Tour de France, the mountain stage, Ax Bonascre, we are holding a dinner at The Sketchley Grange hotel in Hinckley with Dean Richards, Geordan Murphy & Harry Ellis
There are a limited number of places for this unique launch event, join us for a 3 course dinner, Q & A session with Dean & his other invited sporting celebrities. Hosted by Roger Dakin (short biog) who will also run our charity auction this promises to be a fun & entertaining evening.
