Story
Walking the Shakespeare Way
Set off 17th March 2007 - for updates on the progress of the walk please scroll down to the bottom of this section.
In celebration of Shakespeare's Globe Friends coming of age I will be leading a keen group of walkers along all 146 miles of The Shakespeare Way, from Stratford-Upon-Avon to Southwark. Our goal is to raise £21,000 to enable us to continue our commitment to providing 700 £5 tickets per performance and launch a series of ambitious projects across theatre, education and the exhibition. But with no annual government funding we need your help more than ever!
Join us on our adventure at any point, for just a day or even the whole stretch and ask your friends and family to support you by donating to this site. Contact me on 020 7902 5970 or jo@shakespearesglobe.com for more information.
Walked (a part) of the route:
Jo Matthews
Sue Landaw
Linda Bee
Bob Barker
Anne Rowley
Veronica Shaw
Sarah Sullivan
George Gibbs
Pete Matthews
Martin from Questors Theatre
Samir Savant
If you can't make it, join us in spirit by donating to this page today and watch the thermometer rise!
It will only take a pledge of £3 from each Friend to reach our target of £21,000. That's the price of a pint on a Friday night or a Cappuccino at Starbucks or less than the cost of a Groundling Ticket. How can you resist?
Donating online is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Shakespeare Globe Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
You can even email the link to this page to your friends and family or include it in your email signature to spread the word and help even more people donate easily and support our projects. Every penny counts!
Our adventure will begin Saturday 17th March at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon and end at the Globe two weeks later.
