Hi Everyone
In 2004 I was working, then on holiday, then home. No worries really. I remember the shock of finding a lump as the beginning of an immensely challenging time for me. A lot of tests and a lot of treatment. I remember losing my hair, being extraordinarily tired, and then the highly daunting prospect of surgery. I remember my husband's face, all our fears, and I remember leaving the hospital having survived it all!!
My fantastic treatment was at UCH and it was there that they recommended Cancerkin, a charity helping women with breast cancer. From managing emotions and work issues to offering complementary therapies and support groups, Cancerkin really helped me during my diagnosis, treatment and recovery process.
This October I will be 50 and to celebrate what will be an incredible mile stone for me and in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the kind work of Cancerkin, I have set myself a challenge:
On Sunday 3rd October I will be swimming 1 mile to raise £1000 for Cancerkin, to help them continue helping women like me.
I would greatly appreciate anything you could spare to help towards my personal goal and the invaluable work of Cancerkin.
Thank you very much!
Gina
