Story

On 24 April 2013 The Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed with devastating effects.

I will never forget the moment I heard the news, I was struck dumb by the absolute horror of it.

The people injured and killed on that fateful day were making cheap clothes for you and I and it cost them dearly.

The day before the collapse cracks appeared in the walls and celling but warnings to avoid using the building were ignored. Garment workers were ordered to return to work despite their fears that the building was unsafe and they were threatened with losing a months pay if they didn't.
The Rana Plaza collapsed during the morning rush-hour the next day
killing 1129 people and injuring a further 2515. Many families were left destitute, devastated and disabled.

People lost their lives meeting ridiculously tight deadlines and low budgets so we can have cheap throw away clothes we don't need or care about.

18 months later and the surviving victims of this appalling tragedy have still not been compensated!
The trust fund set up to collect money is $18 million short of it's $40 million target.

I am running
The Marcothon (a minimum 3 miles every single day in December including Christmas day!) The Bath Half Marathon (in under 2 hours) The Brighton Marathon and 2 weeks later, (2 days after the 2nd anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster) I will run The London Marathon.

Including training I will be running approximately 500 miles over the next 5 months.

My fundraising target is £1129, £1 for every person who lost their life that day.

If you would like to sponsor me in aid of, and to raise awareness for the victims of this appalling tragedy I would be very grateful!

Here is an article I wrote after watching a documentary about the disaster last year.
