Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am 51 years old and work as a Sister/Departmental Manager on the Fracture & Orthopaedic Outpatients Department at the Royal Gwent Hospital Newport.
I recently took part in the London Moonwalk, a 26 mile walk at night to raise money for breast cancer. This inspired me to look for a bigger challenge which resulted in my signing up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2010 as one of a group of local people aiming to raise money for the Sparkle Appeal.
The purpose of the Sparkle Appeal is to raise as much as possible of the £1.5 million required to equip the new centre for children with complex disabilities that has been built in High Cross, Newport. This will be a centre of excellence for both the children receiving treatment and also their families, something that has been lacking in the current outdated facility at Eveswell, Newport.
As much as this will be a personal achievement for me, more importantly it is a local charity that will benefit and is connected to my work as some of these children attend our clinic for treatment of associated orthopaedic conditions.
Each participant has to raise £4,200 in sponsorship, and i have made a start on this by organising a fundraising bar-b-que at home in July, and i have several other ideas for the months ahead. If you would like to sponsor me for this very worthy cause any donation would be very much welcomed and appreciated.
