Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
George has Diamond Blackfan Aneamia (an inherited bone marrow failure syndrome.) unfortunately there have been some complications and the Consultant told us that they would be looking on the registry for a match for a stem cell / bone marrow transplant.
Once you get over the shock of that news, the reality kicks in "what if there is no match"
So my amazing son George, (with help of his super brother Samuel, friends and family,) has set George's 12 Challenges.
Majority sports related.
Kicking off with Thanet Viking Trail cycle ride on 5th July 2015 approx 26 miles.
Anthony Nolan himself was a local boy, who died as there was no such registry. The charity in his name, holds a national register for potential donors. We want to raise awareness and encourage 16-30 year olds to register. Doctors would choose a donor in this age bracket and it is more likely to be a male. (they have more stem cells).
However for each person who registers it cost £100. So if we get just 50 people to register that's £5000 cost to the charity.
