We undertake critical brain tumour research to improve survival rates across the World.

Story

In August of this year I will be cycling unsupported ( i carry all i need) from London to Istanbul as part of the www.transcontinentalrace.com  Leaving Westminster Bridge at 8 am on August 9th, i am aiming to be in Istanbul by Monday 25th.  There is no official route although i do need to visit three checkpoints.

1. Cafe Au Reveil Matin, Paris
2. Passo Dello Stelvio, Italian Alps - 2,757 meter climb - 48 hairpin bends
3. Mount Lovcen, Montenegro - 1,749 meter climb - 29 hairpin bends

The total mileage isn’t known yet but it will be in excess of 2,200 miles

So why am i doing it?

Worldwide, over 30,000 children each year are diagnosed with cancer of the brain or central nervous system. In the UK, brain tumours are the largest cause of children’s cancer deaths, yet only 2% of cancer research funding has been focussed on this area.

On average, children in the UK wait up to three times longer for a brain tumour diagnosis than those in other developed countries. This can make long-term survivors up to ten times more likely to suffer disability. We need to improve our understanding of childhood brain tumours

Real progress is being made in diagnosing earlier and improving survival rates but there is so much more that our leading edge researchers want to do to improve this further. So I’m cycling over 2,200 miles to raise money for more research to help speed up diagnosis, get new and better treatments readily available and help more children and their families deal with cancer.

Thank you for supporting me in any way you can.
