Towards the end of August 2010, weather permitting, I will be attempting to swim from Church Bay, Rathlin Island to Ballycastle in memory of my swimming partner and friend, Ciaran McGinn, who died tragically in March 2010. Ciaran was a great open water swimmer who conquered Rathlin three years ago and raised a lot of money for RNLI, his chosen charity. In 2008 Ciaran and I both attempted the swim but were thwarted by bad weather and tides after almost four and a half hours in the water. The stretch of water between Rathlin and Ballycastle in notoriously unpredictable with very strong tides going in every direction. I will give it my best shot and hope to raise as much as possible for Ballycastle RNLI. Thank you for your support!
