Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I've done it!!!!
The day was just amazing and an awesome experience - I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, from beginning to end and would do it again tomorrow if I could.
My race went well up until 10mile when my knee started to pull - I kept going and luckily it eased off. At 20 mile I was on target for a 4hr marathon, but....
.... my knee completely went and I was unable to walk, luckily however there was a physio half a mile up so they helped to ease the pain to enabled me to jog for a further 4 mile, although not at pace. I was forced to walk again at 24 mile and managed to run the final mile.
The whole experience was just incredible, the crowd was brilliant, especially those handing out jelly babies and banana's!
You know people say you hit the wall, well I somehow missed that bit out and stayed positve the whole way round, even with my knee troubles - it made me more determined and motivated to get to the finish.
It was a warm day and the mist showers were very welcomed!!
I had great support by family and friends who had travelled up to support, so thank you to you. (you know who you are!)
I was on a complete high when I got home and enjoyed a nice curry and champagne to celebrate!
So, 24hrs after finishing, I still feel great - my injury isn't so bad and I can still walk! I had a nice (well, painful but nice) sports massage to help release many knots.
My final time was 4hrs 47, which I'm pleased about - I finished and that was my main aim. Who knows, next year I might aim to beat this years time!!!!
