Story
Those who know me well know that I don’t often ask for help but now I have a goal that can be only achieved with your support!
I decided to make my placement year at university even more meaningful and together with some other lovely (and hopefully brave enough) individuals, I am doing a tandem skydive in May (in other words, I will jump out a plane at 10,000ft/3km and hope that the parachute works).
All the money that I collect will help a small charity with a huge heart, the Emily Ash Trust. It was initially set up to raise awareness of the need for bone marrow donors but the organisation has now evolved and now supports families who have a child, teenager or young adult with any kind of cancer. Unlike many larger charities, it’s a place where each member of staff works on a voluntary basis so all money raised goes directly to helping people who need it.
The Emily Ash Trust started in 2002 when little Emily was diagnosed with leukaemia and, as mentioned above, it aimed to encourage people to sign up as potential bone marrow donors. I fully support this message so please remember, if you cannot donate money, you can always consider registration as a potential donor and help fight against blood cancer. For this small amount of effort, you can save someone's life and this would be worth more than any other donation.
Wish me luck!
Weronika (still on the ground)
