Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have run the marathon twice before. Many years ago. I was certain I would never run another one. Until now.

This third (and very likely final) marathon is for Tim. Alexa’s loving Daddy who we both adored. Taken from us all suddenly and shockingly following the news he had brain cancer back in July 2020. Just 7 weeks later we had to say goodbye forever. He was 42, a personal trainer and a picture of health. He was vegan and so passionate about only ever using natural products. He loved nature and the outdoors, particularly the sea. Alexa was had just turned 4 and just simply loved her Daddy.

Watching this disease take its hold on Tim so quickly and aggressively was the hardest thing I have ever faced. It started with explaining to Alexa that Daddy couldn’t pick her up and put her on his shoulders anymore. Then quickly became warning her that daddy couldn’t get out of bed to play with her or go in the garden, but she could sit on his bed. Then it was letting her know that Daddy wouldn’t be able to speak to her anymore but could still hear her and would love to hear her voice. Lastly it was somehow explaining to her that he was with the angels in heaven.

I told her he had a naughty lump in his head that made him poorly and the doctors couldn’t help get him better. So I’m running this race one more time to raise money in an effort that these “naughty lumps” can be treated or prevented in the future. Tim and I both ran the London marathon in 2012 within 3 minutes of each other  (before we met) so I will be taking him with me round the course again.

Please donate what you can. I really want to show Alexa that good things can happen from bad things. I want to show her that her Daddy’s memory is still very much alive and how he was loved. I also want to show her that hard work pays off and how we all have the power to make a difference. We just have to try.

Thank you for reading. Wish me luck!
