I'm riding the St Barnabas House Hit the Downs ride on 12th May. My mum was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in September last year. 

She is now fully dependant on oxygen and bed bound at home needing support and care everyday. This nasty disease basically quickly reduces lung capacity and suffocates the victim overtime. We have no idea how long she has left with us, everyday is precious.

She is soon going into St Barnabas House in Worthing for some lovely care. They are a charity that support patients with life limiting conditions and I know my mum is looking forward to all the amazing facilities they have especially the private jacuzzi bath!

To make this 60 km off road ride a little more poignant for me I will be riding a bike without any gears. Hence Tyler's Single Speed Ride. With the inclines on the south downs it will in some small way represent the struggle my mum has to just get up from bed to go to the bathroom. She's a Legend.
