Story
My Night to Remember is in memory of my beautiful mother Tracy Ann Coe who sadly lost her life at the beginning of this year. I will be doing this walk along Worthing Beach, one of our favourite places to go together with our dogs.
My mother returned home from hospital after being told she had 5 weeks to live after battling cancer for two years. Of course this was a shock to us but St Barnabas Hospice was there from the very first day helping my brother and I take care of her. Whether this was handling medication to essential hygeine they were our absolute rock while we were going through the realisation that she was dying. I can honestly say that we wouldn't have known what to do without them being there guiding us. Up to the very last day they treated my mum and myself like we were people and not just a number. My mum would even look forward to their visits because the nurses were just so down to earth and caring. I give my thanks especially to Caroline who was so lovely throughout her many visits and was there in the final steps of her journey.
My mum passed away on the 12th of January 2021. She was the most special lady, always putting others before herself. St Barnabas put my mum before anything and for that I will be eternally grateful. The money I am raising will help ensure local people with terminal illnesses are cared for throughout their journey.
Please donate what you can. Even if this is a £1 it all adds up to families in need of the support like we once was. £10 could provide a delicious meal at the hospice, catered to a patient’s individual needs. £15 could buy a special memory box, giving patients the chance to leave a lasting legacy for their loved ones. £25 could cover the cost of an hour of care at home during the night, often the most difficult time for patients and families. This was the hardest time for us also.
Thank you so much for reading and if you have your mum about, please tell her how much you love her and make the most out of the time together you share. You never know how long you have💔
