Story
Help us enhance our outside play area, by adding a large scale structure imitating the F35, the Royal Navy’s latest fighter taking off from the flight deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
In the Summer of 2017, the Museum took advantage of an exciting opportunity for both visitors and our local Navy community here at Yeovilton to engage with the Museum, our collection and our story. Thanks to the generous support of Viridor Credits Environmental Company, the Museum was able to develop a significant new external play facility inspired by the flight deck of Queen Elizabeth, one of the new Aircraft Carriers launched by the Royal Navy.
FAAM’s visitors, especially children and young people, have benefitted greatly from the facility which is FREE to all, including members of the local community. Our play area offers something for everyone, inspiring both young (and old children alike!) as they climb, slide and jump onboard! It really is a thrilling adventure!
The Museum would now like to add a final phase to the project, by installing a significant structure (pictured above) which imitates an F35, the Royal Navy’s latest fighter taking off from the flight deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth. The new feature will be both prominent and enticing – with a clear emphasis on families and the ability to play.
The project will cost £50k, of which the Museum has already secured £3.8k from the Coop Community Fund. The Museum has further fundraising initiatives planned over the next few months, but is reliant upon £6k of public support via crowdfunding.
Donors over £50 will receive a special HMS Queen Elizabeth magazine, a real collector’s item; over £75 a HMS Queen Elizabeth pin badge and those over £150 a Novelty Cushion, depicting Queen Elizabeth’s arrival in Portsmouth. Any donor kind enough to give over £250 will be invited to the special VIP launch of the new facility later in 2018.
