Story

Three seventeen year olds (George Ripper, James and Michael Lambourne) were training for the Dartmoor TenTors 55 mile endurance challenge on May 2nd - 3rd 2020. Normally a couple of thousand teenagers walk 35, 45 or 55 miles, climbing ten tors, over two days.

The Covid-19 lock-down has cancelled the event. However this has not stopped us and we will each be completing a 55 mile walk (89km) around our gardens in full overnight walking kit. We are trying to make it as similar to the event as possible: starting at seven in the morning on Saturday 2nd May and finishing before five in the afternoon the next day.

We are raising money for MSF's coronavirus appeal to help support countries that are struggling most with the virus. (Please read below for more details). We really hope that you can support us, any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.

We also want to do this to honour all the people who gave up their free time and weekends to train ten tors teams like ours - and for all the people who were due to take part and now can't.

Of course if you were also planning on doing Ten Tors this year, we encourage you to join in, doing the distance that you would have been walking next weekend. If you do, it would be great to hear from you; email georgeripper@gmail.com to get in touch about it.

MSF's emergency teams are experts at fighting disease outbreaks. I'm raising funds to support the medical teams on the ground as they respond to the coronavirus crisis. Right now, MSF is providing urgently needed medical care and support in more than 70 countries to counter the coronavirus disease. In Europe, MSF is supporting health authorities in Italy, Spain, France, Belgium and Switzerland. MSF's medical teams are also gearing up to confront potential outbreaks in the hundreds of areas they were already working before the pandemic struck. MSF are deploying medics, sending supplies and applying nearly 50 years of experience fighting epidemics to protect the most vulnerable and save lives.

How you can help:- £16 can pay for a surgical tunic, trousers and a pair of sterile reusable gloves.- £28 can pay for protective plastic goggles for four doctors.- £58 can pay for sterile gloves for 30 medics.- £110 can pay for five protective suits to keep staff safe.Thank you.
