When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.

Andy having his stroke in June 2018 was such a big shock to us as all family. He was affected on his left side and lost movement in his arm and leg but after a lot of determination, rehabilitation and support he made a great recovery and 6 months later he is back to working full time. When it first happened Andy had to learn all the basic motor skills like using his hand and walking at a time when our youngest daughter was herself learning to walk and it really did seem so unfair. The local community stroke team did an amazing job and together with hard work and determination from Andy, got him back up on his feet within three months!
Andy would always had been the first person to put himself forward for a run but as he couldn’t I completed the Stroke Resolution run last year in Manchester to show my husband how proud of him we all are. I managed to raise and amazing £1275 from friends, family and work colleagues.

This year myself, Andy, Ricky, Vicki and Catherine will be taking part in the run. :) 

Strokes can really happen to anyone, we were so lucky as we had a lot of support from family and friends but there are so many people who aren’t as fortunate, so if we can just help one person in their recovery doing this run by raising some money for the Stroke Association then I would be so happy.
