Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page
I have been unwell for a few years now and had to be medically retired from a job I loved in the Royal Victoria Hospital but it was only in June 2017 I was diagnosed with heart failure which was a big shock for me , my family and friends . It takes a while to comes to terms with and I don’t think you ever really do I was told that usually it’s part of your heart is damaged but in my case it’s my whole heart so we’re all still getting our heads around it as well as narrow complex tachycardia which is a fast heart rate and a separate issue to the heart failure , I also have a nerve disease ‘ peripheral neuropathy ‘ which is the same as ‘ ms ‘ only my damaged nerves are outside the spinal cord and brain . I also have mild arthritis in my spine , cervical spondylitis and stenosis of my back and degenerative discs so to say I’m in pain is an understatement . I am in severe pain on a daily basis , there is not a day goes by that I’m pain free as well as my other symptoms with the heart failure and neuropathy which are breathlessness and I would get this making the bed , Having a shower , walking upstairs and sometimes I don’t have to do anything and I could still be out of breath , I am not allowed to do anything apart from a mild walk which is frustrating as I used to be so active but things happen and your life can change in an instant . I suffer from severe fatigue , insomnia, , fluid retention , weakness of limbs and generally all over pain and it’s not just a pain it’s electric shocks , stabbing pain , burning pain , dull aching pain , my hands can be unbearable sometimes as well as my feet , on a bad day I have no grip in my hands and even a walk can be struggle along with the dizziness and low BP , the list is endless really and everyday is a struggle !
I also had to take early retirement from a job I loved and from any work so it’s all life changing but I do try to remain positive and get on with life the best I can , my dogs are my world , it’s amazing how having them can just put a smile on your face and just having them
there can make such a difference to your day
This walk may be short but for me it will be hard but I’ll give it my best shot !
More and more women are being diagnosed and dying of heart disease everyday , it’s more common in females but males do suffer as well which is why I would like to do this walk to try and raise as much as we possibly can for the BHF who work tirelessly around the clock in helping so many people , this may seem like a walk in the park to a normal person but to me it will be like climbing Mount Everest , , so please if you could even donate a small amount it would be greatly appreciated
Also if anyone would like to join us you are more than welcome , you will need a walk pack which you can order online from the BHF or if you contact myself or Michele Patterson we can order you one or send you the link
Thank you
Tara
