Story
This is a picture of Felix courtesy of Felix' family. Felix is my godson. He was diagnosed in 2014 aged 2 with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
https://www.duchenneuk.org shows just how much amazing work is being undertaken through investment into research and drug trials in the search for a cure and also delaying the aggressive outcomes of this brutal condition. Duchenne UK have and continue to achieve incredible results, with the help of donors, partner charities and researchers. The groundbreaking trials to date and work that are funded through Duchenne UK mean we are so so close to finding a cure but like many charities have to rely on the generosity and kindness of others to keep the research alive.
This charity is very close to my heart and as a fit and healthy 45 year old with enormous ready made fins (huge feet) I wanted to swim in a big cold, beautiful Loch in Scotland to help somehow to find a cure for this cruel disease which results in loss of mobility by early teens, wheelchair bound by late teens and dead by the age of 20's.
Please, if you can, support Duchenne UK and help in the fight to keep these young people out of wheelchairs and put the brakes on their life expectancy being so short...
Thank you so so much.
Susie
