Story

Hello lovely people who are kind enough to visit my Fundraising page!

The older I get the more I realise what an amazing gift it is to have parents who believe you can be anything or anyone you want to be. My mum (Susie) believed just that. There was no such word as can't. So with that in mind, Inspired by the incredible courage of Mum, through her unique fighting spirit and extraordinary bravery, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon 2017!

After Mum died last year, For a very long time I thought I could deal with everything myself and stay strong. But the truth is sometimes we cant be strong and we need that hand to give us a little help along the way. This year I have chosen to run for Macmillan Cancer Support. I'm running not just for my mum but for people that need support, those that carry the uncertainty of a future without a loved one. A feeling that at times can seem a very scary place.

Although this physical challenge could never compare to the physical, emotional and chemical journey my mum faced every day, I want to do something to carry on the fight. Each time I'm on a run and my little legs get tired I think about the hours she spent receiving treatment, I think of all the times she never gave up, how she faced every step of everyday with tremendous courage and bravery. And a smile. So.. In comparison.. what is a Marathon? Why can't I show the hope, courage and bravery that she had?

My Mum is and always will be my hero. She was the perfect superhero. She filled imaginations with hope and a sense of adventure. She is the person I look up to and the person I miss so much. Despite being diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer in October 2015 she never lost her wonderful sense of humour and love for life. Mum never wanted to know how long she had left, she wanted to enjoy and live each day as though that could be the last, with a positive vision of what was to be, she gave us so many wonderful memories.

Just like my Mum, Macmillan believes that a we shouldn't stop living because of 'Cancer'. The support they provide makes a huge difference to people, real people, people like you and me. So I'm asking you from the bottom of my heart, to dig deep, be generous and please donate! Lets Kick Cancers Butt together. The world is loosing too many wonderful people because of it.

Thank you, my love goes with you xx

Running to remember - Susie Cane and Cathy Dinsmore.  .
