Story
I’m running the London Marathon for Freightliners City Farm. This charity is really important to my big sis and desperately needs help. So, I’ve agreed to put my new Forrest Gump style running skills to good use.
Spending time in nature is essential for our metal health and overall wellbeing. Being born and bred in the north east, with easy access to green space, we forget that it’s more challenging for others.
The farm is a small community project located in the urban jungle of north London–it’s not all celebrities and politicians–it’s got the fourth highest rate of child poverty in the UK. It’s free- to-access and a life line for its many visitors and volunteers. It provides training, apprenticeships and qualifications for young people and is a support centre for the vulnerable.
It’s self-funding and completely reliant on grants and donations. As grants become harder to come by, it needs fundraising help if it is to survive and keep its residents kicking, mooing, bleating….
I’m aiming to beat my last year’s time of 2 hours 47 mins. (Which is why I’ve refused to run dressed in a cow or bunny onesie!). If you want to agree to sponsor me extra £££ if I beat my old time, check back in after the race to see how I get on.
