Story
My name is Steve Young and THIS WEEK I am putting my life on hold for 50 hours, to help Caudwell Children spread more awareness, acceptance and understanding of autism.
I will be living in a glass box, which will be situated in the foyer of the Tesco Extra store on Chester Road in Stretford (M32 0QW). I will be relying on nothing more than my sleeping bag and public support to get me through - mobile phones and gadgets are banned, so it will certainly be a challenge!
Many families have told Caudwell Children that the 3m x 2m box is a powerful metaphor for the condition - the difficulty in communicating, the isolation and being stared at from all directions are all things that autistic children regularly have to manage.
I will enter the box at Noon on Wednesday 6th July, and if successful, I will leave at 2pm on the Friday - 50 hours later.
Please visit me in-store (don't forget it's open 24 hours!) or if you can't make it, then you could always donate here on justgiving or via sms: text LIFA76 £3 to 70070.
As a keen football fan, I am pretty gutted to be missing the Wales v Portugal match, but I am committed to this challenge!
All money raised will help support autistic children and their families across the Stretford area. Many thanks for your support!
All the best,
Steve
