Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 23rd June 2004 when I was 16. I was in DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) at diagnosis. Managing type 1 diabetes has involved multiple daily injections, blood glucose monitoring and for the last 3 years I have been lucky to have an insulin pump.
I have never been good at any sports and taking up running has been a personal challenge. Thanks to the Les Croupiers Couch to 5K Program for helping me learn to run. I am running the Cardiff 10K with my sister, Olivia Smith to raise money for Diabetes UK.
Too many children are not diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes until they
are in Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). I want to support Diabetes UK to raise awareness of the 4T’s of Type 1 Diabetes: Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, and Thinner. Please donate to the important work of Diabetes UK.
Thank you for all your support.
