We work through volunteers to bring about lasting change

Story

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. I'm volunteering with ICS (International Citizen Service) and VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas) by going to the Mwanza Lake Zone in Tanzania. We will be 20 Volunteers in total from both UK and Tanzania working within the LYZE developmental project.

As an ICS volunteer I will be mainly contributing to:
Supporting young people to access work by providing life skills and entrepreneurship training to build their knowledge and confidence
• Support small businesses and other income-generating activities run by young people by building their business knowledge through training and ongoing support

ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their aid and involvement. The aim of the program is both to inspire young people to volunteer as well as to bring developmental aid to countries that require it. There is lots of information on www.volunteerics.org and www.vsointernational.org/

ICS, through the partner charities that help run it, has projects in various countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda and others. Developmental projects range from Education and Environment related, to Sexual Health, Sanitation and Local Business Development.

I'm taking part in the program because projects like these can affect both the country they take place in as well as the global community. After this project, I want to continue volunteering for both development projects and disaster response. This is the first step.

All the money raised will go directly to VSO. It does not pay for the trip, the visas, flights, travel and medical insurance, medication, vaccines, food or anything else. That has all already been paid for. This money will go towards everything else that VSO and other charities do to run the ICS program, and ensures that programs like this continue to run, and run smoothly. It is as vital as the development work itself, because one ensures the quality of the other.

If you are able to contribute to this program with a small donation of any amount then your generosity won't be appreciated just by me or ICS. It will be appreciated by all the young people whose futures we can make a difference to during these placements, by the future volunteers who will be able to continue going on similar projects and all the people that they will reach.

And for aiding me in aiding others, and for helping me take my first step as an international volunteer, you will have my most sincere gratitude.

Thanks and have a great day!

"VSO brings people together to address marginalisation and poverty. Right now, VSO is bringing justice to rape survivors in Pakistan, ending stigma against disabled children in Ethiopia and tackling the youth skills gap in Uganda. Please join me as I take a stand against poverty and support VSO's uniquely effective approach that reached over 1.5 million people last year alone. Read more about this vital work, please visit their website: www.vsointernational.org/fighting-poverty Thank you"
