Squire’s Garden Centre in Long Ditton are delighted to have chosen the Princess Alice Hospice (PAH) in Esher as their local charity the year.
The centre chose this wonderful charity because of the number customers that have mentioned that they are huge supporters of our local hospice, as they have been helped during difficult times in their lives. Their loved ones or friends have been amazingly well looked after in the hospice or by their nurses in the community at the end of their lives. The hospice has also given on-going family support. Also, many staff at Squire’s of Long Ditton have described similar positive experiences with loved ones and friends.
One member of staff has therefore decided to raise much needed funds for Princess Alice by daringly undertaking a tandem skydive from a height of 10,000 feet on April 21st 2018. Denise is terrified of heights, so this will be quite a challenge! Most people probably don’t know that Princess Alice is almost entirely funded by donations and it takes around 9.5 million pounds a year to run. So any donations, no matter how modest, will help the hospice going forwards and none of us can predict who may need (or when) these precious services.
Denise has described her motivation for doing the skydive. Her only son Harry, aged 23 years, was so well cared for recently at PAH at the end of his life. The hospice made Harry feel safe and nurtured and he asked that we should give back to Princess Alice through charitable donations.
Both Squire’s and the Princess Alice Hospice really value any support you can offer, however small, for this worthy charity. Thank you.
