Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page.
I'm an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Royal Derby Hospital and I'm taking part in the Outlaw X Triathlon (1/2 Ironman) in September 2021 to raise funds for the Manjeet Riyat Training, Education and Development Charitable Fund. I'll be completing a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. I'm built for rugby and not for endurance so this will be quite a challenge !
A charitable fund has been established in memory of Dr Manjeet Riyat, Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS foundation Trust, who died of coronavirus in April 2020. Manjeet was the UK first Sikh Consultant in Emergency medicine and had worked in Derby since 2003.
Manjeet was recognised and greatly respected by colleagues for his contribution to many aspects of Emergency medicine. He was a lead examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and had worked as a College Tutor and as an Educational Supervisor for the Deanery. So many trainees and other colleagues owe Manjeet a debt of gratitude for his support, guidance and supervision and for the strong example he set in his own practice.
The fund will support the training, education and development of Emergency Medicine staff in Derby and the East Midlands, with the ultimate purpose of improving the care provided to patients.
