Story
I am taking on this Sky dive challenge to raise
funds for the amazing Heart Transplant Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
who have looked after my husband Richard for the last 10 years.
Richard had a heart attack in 2011 at the age of 55 and was
left with severe heart failure. In 2012 Richard
was fitted with a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). He was then accepted
and placed on the Heart Transplant list.
In April 2020 Richard was moved to the Urgent Transplant
list due to an infection that was causing major concern. Richard had a successful Heart Transplant in
July 2020. After a massive 16 hour
operation and 11 days spent in a coma he has come back fighting and is
continuing to improve on what has been a long and difficult road to recovery.
We would be so grateful for any donations in support of the
Heart Transplant team. This could help
towards rehabilitation equipment and counselling care for future LVAD/Heart
Transplant patients, which is crucial for gaining strength both physically and
mentally during recovery.
We are truly blessed to be able to continue our journey
together after being married for over 43 years and producing 4 children who
have given us 10 grandchildren.
The dedicated care and support given by the Heart Transplant
team and the rest of the hospital staff will stay with us forever and this is
just a way of saying THANK YOU.
