People who know me know that I am disabled as a result of secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis. I use a 4 wheeled walker to help me get around my flat, but for longer distances I have to use a mobility scooter. Over a number of days I aim to walk 26 times up and down the corridor in front of my flat - a distance of approximately 16 meters in total, which may not seem a lot but to me it feels like a mini marathon!
My Grandad was involved a lot in his local St John Ambulance division (Wednesbury) and so it became a cause close to the family's hearts. I have decided to raise money for St. John Ambulance Cymru as they are now my local ones since moving to South Wales. I aim to complete my challenge by 26th July - not only because it is a 2.6 challenge but also because that was my Grandad's birthday.
Save the UK's Charities - general fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
