Story
On the 8th June 2019 we have decided to do the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). There's a group of our friends and family (including 9 year old Oliver, who's hoping to complete one or two of the peaks). Our team name is 'Any which way but home' as our dad had this quote printed on the back of his lorry.
We have chosen to do the challenge in aid of MND as our dad has been diagnosed with PLS (Primary Lateral Sclerosis) a rare neuromuscular muscle weakness, which falls into the motor neurone disease group. Our dad has had a mixture of different tests and examinations done, he's tried different types of medication as theres no known cure for MND.
Our dad is completely wheelchair dependant now and has to have a range of specialist equipment to help in his day to day life. Dad doesn't have carers as our mum cares for him full time.
Dad has always worked hard, he owned his own business, was always busy and active, so in 2016 when he fell poorly it was a shock to the system. As the last couple of years have progressed dads slowly deteriorated and had to give up his business, stop driving and has become immobile. Some days are 'good' and some days are 'bad', the bad days are starting to out weigh the good now.
When you grow up seeing someone never ask for anything in their life, suddenly become vulnerable and losing every piece of dignity they had, is heartbreaking. Watching your own children help care and feed their grandad, makes your heart literally ache. We as a family don't want others going through this and thats why we need to help raise money to find a cure!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, all the money raised will go directly to the MND association to help fund research for a future cure.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
