Story
My toddler son Malcolm was very ill in December 2017. He was looked after on Holly Ward in Hinchingbrooke hospital, and received care at home after being discharged.
The Dreamdrops charity raises money for Holly Ward, care for ill children at home, and the Special Care Baby Unit at Hinchingbrooke hospital. The money they raise pays for facilities that are not covered by public funds, and I'm incredibly grateful for the excellent care we received both on Holly Ward and at home.
To raise money for them, I'm asking for sponsorship for a set of 3 physical challenges I'll be doing:
* On Saturday 12th May, I'll be climbing up and walking down Snowdon by myself. It's Wales' highest peak at 1075m/3560ft tall. I've been training for this using Cambridgeshire's non-existent hills. UPDATE: Mission achieved. 2h20min to walk up, 1h35min to come back down!
* In July, I'll attempt to swim 100 lengths in 1 hour 50 minutes. The reason for the time limit is to make it a tough challenge for me, plus it's the longest evening session at my nearest swimming pool, haha!
* On Sunday 14th October, I'll be completing the Great Eastern Run. It's a half marathon race, so it's 13.1 miles of effort for me. While I've ran a few half marathons in the past, I've only trained in cool weather for a springtime race. The Great Eastern Run will be challenging for me as I'll need to start training in July and run in hot weather, which I find really difficult.
I'm hoping to get to the end of all of this with no injuries!
I'm covering all costs for travel/accommodation/equipment, so your sponsorship money goes to the Dreamdrops charity. I hope that you can spare some sponsorship money for this great cause.
Thank you.
