Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
"In Europe, more than 464,000 new cases of breast cancer were estimated to have been diagnosed in 2012. The UK incidence rate is the sixth highest in Europe. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 1.68 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012". (Source Cancer Research UK).
In May 2017 I became one of the thousands of women to be diagnosed with breast cancer. I am currently undergoing treatment for it, which will continue through till April 2018.
Helping me through my treatment are the amazing Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. They are supporting me with counselling, holistic treatments and offering a place where I can go and feel comfortable.
When I was first diagnosed I was in complete shock. The counselling sessions I have had have helped me come to terms with my diagnosis. They have also helped me cope mentally with the treatment and be more positive. Whenever I arrive at the centre I immediately feel at home. I don’t feel self-conscious and I know I have somewhere I can get support and answers to my questions.
I often don’t feel like leaving the house after chemo so the Helen Rollason Centre offers me a safe haven when I don’t feel my best. At the centre, I’ve met other women who’ve had breast cancer who have answered many of my questions and helped reassure me.
I've blogged about my diagnosis and how I'm raising funds you can read more about it here:

Founded in 1999, the charity is the legacy of BBC broadcaster Helen Rollason, whose vision was:
“Good quality of life while coping with cancer is the most important gift a sick person can receive. It should be available to everyone.”
