Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am 18 years old and currently taking a gap year to row across an ocean. In March 2021 I will be setting off from Las Galletas, Canary Islands with 11 others as we attempt to row across the Atlantic Ocean to Falmouth Harbour, Antigua. We aim to complete this challenge within 30-40 days.
ROXY, our boat, is Rannoch Adventure's brand new, flagship, 12-person boat. At 11.8m long, she has 8 rowing berths and two cabins to accommodate the crew.
This is a big challenge both mentally and physically, it is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity and I want to make it count for Candlelighters'. I had the honour of attending the 2019 Candlelighters' Awards Dinner on the back of the Summer of Sporting Challenges, that I did with my brothers in 2018. I came away from the evening inspired and motivated by the other fundraisers around me to do more. I want to use this ocean row, this Atlantic rowing challenge, to raise as much money as I can to help fund the amazing research work that Dr Bob spearheads and the support that so many others in the charity give to families' who have a child facing a fight against cancer. Every penny raised is used to fund research and support children and their families. Any support that you can give will be hugely appreciated and when I'm in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, facing huge waves, blistered hands and all that the ocean can throw at me, knowing I'm doing this to raise money for the Candlelighters' will keep me rowing....please click on the button to donate...it means a lot...big thanks, Rupert :), x.
