WE DID IT!
It was hard but it was also one of the best experiences of our lives - we were so gutted for Issy who had to pull out through injury but she and the rest of our super colleagues and friends came down to cheer us on.
Thank you so much for your donations and well wishes
We are super proud to be taking on the momentous challenge of running the London Marathon this year for Maggie's Edinburgh. All three of us work for Maggie's Edinburgh and see every day the difference the practical and emotional support Maggie's offers makes to people living with cancer. In the most basic terms we see people with cancer, and their family and friends, come into our centre looking worried and anxious and leave with looking relieved and hopeful. As our founder Maggie Keswick Jencks said, what's most important is "not to lose the joy of living in the fear of dying".
We all believe hugely in the power of what happens in a Maggie's centre and as the organisation relies almost entirely on voluntary donations, we want to do all we can to help raise funds and ensure Maggie's is there for as many people as possible.
The three of us have long wished to run London, so it seemed like a no brainer to help raise funds while we are at it. It is, of course, also really exciting as well as nerve wracking for us all.
We have set an ambitious fundraising target of £10,000 which will allow us to do more of what we do supporting people who are living with cancer. If we manage to meet our target it will mean being able to provide over 400 people with the opportunity to visit the centre for support.
To do that we need your help! We see every day the power that people can have when we come together as a community, please donate what you feel able to and helps us to raise as much as we can for this wonderful charity.
Thank you!
