Thank you for visiting this JustGiving page.
On Wednesday, 26th August 2020 I begin my walk around Wales via The
Coastal Path and Offa’s Dyke, a total of 1047 miles. I am fundraising for two charities, namely the Wales Air Ambulance (and The RNLI – see my separate JustGiving page). I’m calling it ROUTE 66 CYMRU WALES because that’s how old I am! I will start at Poppit Beach near Cardigan and walk north in a clockwise direction and will include Anglesey. I am hoping to complete the walk to return to Poppit in not more than 70 days.
Why the Wales Air Ambulance? It is not funded by the
NHS, only on charitable donations. It also provides the Children’s Air
Ambulance Wales emergency transfer service. The Wales Air Ambulance website is https://www.walesairambulance.com which states that in 2019 there were 89 employees and 650 volunteers. It’s aim is “to save lives and reduce or prevent disability or suffering from critical illness and injury, by delivering a pre-hospital emergency medical service”. Other information is available on their website.
Also, I have seen them in action at close quarters when my neighbour suffered a very serious head injury and survived because of the swift (but calm) treatment received and the speed of transfer to hospital.
Thank you in anticipation of your support. Diolch yn fawr / Many thanks.
