We improve habitats to ensure Staffordshire's wildlife thrives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page

I am a local climber and have practically grown up on the moors ( North Staffordshire moorland). I feel a total connection to nature, especially in this area. We need to protect and provide more wild spaces, life depends on the action we take now.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, the county's largest conservation charity,  looks after a large amount of the areas I hold most dear to my heart, its a special charity. I want to give back by helping the Trust to buy more land so it is protected for all time; saving wild places not only helps wildlife it helps the planet and provides a space for others to connect and reconnect with nature as I have.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust recently launched its ambitious mission; to put nature back into recovery across the county. They want 30% of the county put aside for nature by 2030. To kickstart nature recovery's, the Trust has launched an appeal to save precious site Craddocks Moss; a unique habitat for threatened wildlife. The site is a unique lowland raised bog situated to the west of Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire.

Craddocks Moss is already a haven for rare plants like sphagnum mosses and cottongrass; and the four spotted- chaser dragonfly is making a cautious return.  The Trust is sure, that under their care, even more wildlife could return to this diverse habitat.

The vision for Craddocks Moss includes attracting endangered and long-absent species such as the water vole, and the insect-eating sundew plant; birds such as willow tit and curlew; the rare bog bush cricket; the whitefaced darter dragonfly; and the pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly. The site is also a perfect location to reintroduce beavers to the county after over 400 years of local extinction!

Please help me raise as much as I can to help the Trust save Craddocks Moss and kickstart nature's recovery in Staffordshire. I will climb 100 boulders and some routes in one day. Make my time and energy climbing save something amazing for wildlife!
