Story
This summer, the EduSpots team are leading our annual summer campaign focused on the theme of 'Bringing Africa to the Bookshelf'.
Through taking on different challenges, we aim to enable all of our education spaces named 'Spots' to have at least a bookcase of African fiction, non-fiction and local text books, believing that every learner has the right to read material that mirrors their worlds. Communities are also leading their own fundraisers and book collections. Our own and wider research indicates that students are more engaged in reading, and read more books, when local books are available.
This summer, instead of running marathons or swimming lakes, I am asking you to sponsor me to rest, which is much more of a challenge for me! Having experienced a tough year with quite severe chronic fatigue syndrome resulting from multiple viruses, I am going to spend the summer exploring different methods of relaxation to mend my fairly poorly brain! I hope to share my experiences in the process to help others.
1 bookcase is £300; 1 bookcase is £100; a set of books is £30. Help us all BRING AFRICA TO THE BOOKSHELF! We have 50 Spots to equip!
Any form of support is so much valued and appreciated x x
