Story
This year, in Christian Aid Week 10th to 16th May 2021, Christian Aid is focussing its efforts in improving the lives of people suffering from the effects of Climate At a local level in Kenya providing reliable water supplies restarts the lives of many poor people..
Christian Aid helps our overseas neighbours in many ways. It works at the sharp end through partners abroad who have the expertise and compassion to make a big difference. Christian Aid does not send money to governments. Help is provided for all people in need regardless of their race or faith.
Here are some current examples:-
In Nicaragua, the farming community of Santa Rosa has grown coffee for generations. Now they could be the last. The crop is struggling to grow as the climate crisis rages on. By switching from growing Coffee to growing Cocoa with the support of a local partner organisation there is hope! (A smiling mother and daughter helped by Christian Aid, shown in the above photo).
With your support, farming communities are coming together to share tools and knowledge. United, this community can make the urgent changes needed to help their family farms last for generations. In times of crisis, love unites us all.
In the Amazon Rainforest Christian Aid is protecting territories and increasing land access for indigenous people in Brazil. This helps prevent deforestation and protects the land (and the world!) from the rising threat of climate change.
In Ethiopia Christian Aid is strengthening water supplies, sanitation and hygiene, introducing school feeding programmes and providing water infrastructure including boreholes in parts of East Africa dangerously affected by drought.
Refugees in Bangladesh . Christian Aid helps the Rohingya people ,displaced by violence from Myanmar (Burma) to the refugee camp in Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh. This includes providing food supplies and health and sanitation to places vulnerable to Covid19 .
Immediate Aid to the Lebanon severely hit by the huge explosion in the dock area of Beirut during August. Christian Aid sends immediate help in such disasters as part of the DEC Disasters Emergency Committee.
Reach out to your global neighbours and help more communities overcome crisis by donating this spring.
